Psychological assessment can provide valuable information for individuals seeking to gain information about their social/emotional, behavioral, intellectual, and academic/work functioning. Individuals may seek out psychological assessments for self-exploration, to gain a better understanding of their abilities and patterns of interacting with the world, and to help understand personality traits. Testing can also be used to help determine a diagnosis, guide treatment, and offer recommendations to improve overall psychological functioning.

Psychological assessments vary in length and cost, depending on the type of testing required. Given that assessments involve several components that include interviews, test administration, scoring and interpretation of tests, and a written report, they require several hours to complete. The amount of time needed to complete an evaluation varies depending on the goals of the evaluation; however, they typically range from 6 to 12 hours. Additionally, a separate appointment will be scheduled in order for the test results and recommendations to be discussed.

Prior to beginning a private practice centered around psychological evaluation, Dr. Metropoulos trained and worked in various settings in Denver, Colorado and Washington, D.C. She worked in major psychiatric hospitals, correctional facilities, substance abuse clinics, public clinics, and specialized housing facilities.


Dr. Metropoulos serves as an Adjunct Faculty at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s Washington, D.C. location, where she taught doctoral-level students about psychological testing. She additionally guest lectured at University of Denver, Saint Elizabeths Hospital, and Catholic University, often on topics related to psychological testing. Dr. Metropoulos contributes to the field of psychology by researching and presenting at national and international conferences.
